An Open Letter to Herman Cain
You have been our number one choice for president since we started reading your columns (long before you announced your candidacy).
Unfortunately, we believe your 9-9-9 plan is a major disaster waiting to happen.
While it sounds good on paper it has two fatal flaws.
#1 - It does not eliminate the IRS and their invasion of our privacy. The government has no business knowing how much money we make. A flat tax keeps the IRS in (its' intrusive) business.
Also, a major problem with an income tax is the question of what constitutes "income". Wage earners think it is very simple; just report what is on your W-2 but you are sophisticated enough to realize that a large portion of our population manipulate their revenue stream so as to minimize their income. An income tax will NEVER be fair or all-inclusive.
#2 - Having a sales tax in addition to an income tax is simply an invitation to future government "rulers" to increase both the income tax as well as the sales tax. Having two tax streams available to manipulate makes it easy to tweak each side of the equation separately and make tax creep unavoidable.
The real answer is to repeal the sixteenth amendment (repeal the seventeenth amendment while we are at it), eliminate the IRS, and implement the Fair Tax.
Support this and you will have my (and many many potential supporters) full support.

Here is the big problem with the democrats. Obama actually said this in a speech yesterday, “We can’t ask the middle class to bear the entire burden … Everybody’s got to chip in. That’s fair.”
While every reasonable person would agree with that this is 100% true, it is also a 100% lie because he is implying that the middle class is currently bearing the entire burden.
Here are the facts - minus the rhetoric:
• The top 1% of taxpayers earn about 20% of the income and yet they pay 40% of all income taxes collected.
• The top 5% of taxpayers (those earning at least $159,610) pay more in taxes than the remaining 95% of taxpayers combined.
• More than half of Americans, 51%, don’t even pay income taxes!
So, based on these facts, who is paying more than their fair share? It's certainly not the lower and middle classes!
How many democrats just listen to Obama's statements without looking at the underlying facts? I would guess NONE!
The answer is EDUCATION.
How can we get the democrats to quit blindly following the lies told to them by the democrat party? That is the Multi-Trillion Dollar question.
